Anyway, the Consulate gave our agency a "verbal" date of November 12, which would mean we'd get our son on 11/3 and we'd have to leave THIS WEDNESDAY night for the airport (for a red-eye flight departing at 1:40AM Thursday morning). BUT the Consulate wanted our agency to AGAIN fax a copy of our immigration clearance. STILL DESPITE THE FACT that the Consulate CONFIRMED THEY ALREADY HAD this very immigration clearance IN THEIR POSSESSION back in June. What, did they LOSE IT or something???
Man, I hate all those caps but I just cannot help myself.
So, anyway, supposedly we were supposed to get confirmation today. The consulate was going to open up Friday morning, miraculously find THIS fax to be what they needed (even though the exact same information had been faxed TWICE already) and confirm our consulate appointment so we can buy our airfare.
Except the Consulate had a PLANNED CLOSURE on Friday, October 24, due to a SCHEDULED power outage!!!
So now they are closed and won't open again until Monday. So now instead of having our travel plans confirmed today - TWO DAYS LATER THAN THE REST OF THE WORLD - we are no hoping that BY MONDAY we will be able to confirm travel plans - for leaving on WEDNESDAY.
I'm trying to laugh to keep from crying.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. Even thought it would be extremly short notice, I think it would be wonderful for you to be able to travel this Wednesday (a day before us even) :)
I just hope you're packed ... just in case! It only took us about 45 minutes to book travel, and that was a delay I created! Praying for you.
hi kate. i also am adopting from homeland. we are waiting for our LID (although it's probably already logged in). we are probably going to travel in february.
i can't believe this last minute craziness! i sure hope it doesn't happen often...we are leaving 3 kids behind...last minute planning won't be easy!
I am excited to follow the rest of your journey.
